Vanessa Paradis is the new face of Miu Miu for its autumn/winter 2008-9 campaign.

The Milan-based fashion house unveiled a campaign image portraying the French singer and actress as "yet another interpretation of the Miu Miu woman". The image features Paradis clad in a monogrammed superhero-esque top, carrying an embossed leather bag.

The campaign, which was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggot in LA,  portrays Johnny Depp’s paramour as the embodiment of the "powerful independence" of Miuccia Prada's latest collection, which ventures into sportier territory this time around. It is decidedly in stark contrast with the darker mood of the current spring campaign which stars actress Kirsten Dunst.

In a statement, the company said, "The impact and drama of the images continue the enduring dialogue of Mrs. Prada, a conversation concerning the subject of womanhood in our times. At once a deconstruction and a pure visual composition, the campaign addresses the exploration of beauty in conjunction with intellect, imagination and divergence."
