So what’s keeping Tyson Beckford, regarded as America’s first black male supermodel, busy these days?

When not co-hosting the reality series Make Me a Supermodel on the television channel Bravo with fellow supermodel Niki Taylor, or hitting the race tracks for some good ‘ol NASCAR racing, he is spending time on worthwhile causes, such as promoting African fashion.

Beckford was recently at the Africa Rising festival in Nigeria to talk about how important black fashion is. Among other things, he stressed that if African's don't start making their moves in fashion, they will end up being the people buying the product, not making and designing it.

The festival, which has featured stars such as Usher and Naomi Campbell, is being held to promote Africa's cultural achievements.
