Tyra Banks Relives Sports Illustrated Cover Debut

It has been ten years since supermodel Tyra Banks made history by becoming the very first black supermodel to appear all by herself on the cover of the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated.  Now she is marking that milestone by recreating the Bahamian photo shoot that landed her on the cover of the magazine.

She wore the same red polka dot bikini that she wore ten years ago. However, a few adjustments had to be made to make it fit, considering that she now weighs twenty-one pounds heavier than her 140-pound weight during the original 1997 shoot.

"I'd say I looked like a stripper when I put it on", the supermodel said.

The results of that photo shoot will be finally shown on the The Tyra Banks Show Monday.

The current swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated also marks another milestone, with pop superstar Beyonce becoming the first non-model and non-athlete to grace the cover.
