Yves Saint Laurent, who succumbed early this month to brain cancer, is the subject of two films that will make their debut at the next Sundance Film Festival.
One film, “Yves Saint Laurent: His Life and Times”, attempts to chart the life of one of the greatest fashion designers of all time. Directed by filmmaker David Teboul, the film will cover Saint Laurent’s youth in Algeria through his appointment at Dior up to the great success of his own label.
According to The Daily, the film will be peppered with interviews from people close to the late designer, from his mother to his long-time business partner and confidante, Pierre Berge.
The other film, also by Teboul, focuses on painting an intimate portrait of Saint-Laurent in action. Titled “Yves Saint Laurent: 5 Avenue Marceau 75116 Paris”, the second film features the designer as he works, from sketch to catwalk, on his final 2001 womenswear collection.
