New research conducted by road experts have concluded that the fashionable sunglasses worn by millions of women drivers could be potentially hazardous.
The research, commissioned by insurer Sheilas' Wheels, reveals that 8 out of 10 women are risking their lives by wearing sunglasses, particularly those with chunky wide arms and very dark lenses, that limit their view of the road. In addition, the survey also shows that “fewer than one in five (18 per cent) of women bought sunglasses specifically for driving while almost two-thirds (61 per cent) based their choice on appearance rather than practicality."
In other words, more British women are putting more premium on style than road safety.
Incidentally, these fashionable sunglasses are the same ones often seen worn by such celebrities as Victoria Beckham, Paris Hilton and Kylie Minogue.
Instead of these sunglasses, slim-armed aiator style glasses that curve around the eyes are recommended for safer driving, as well as neutral brown or grey shaded anti-reflective lenses.
