After more than a decade making waves in the fashion industry, British designer Stella McCartney is finally set to make her debut at London Fashion Week.
McCartney, daughter of legendary Beatle Paul McCartney, will be launching her new Adidas Spring/Summer 2008 sports range at the London Fashion Week in September. Her Adidas activewear collection, which will include yoga, running, gymnastics, swimming, tennis and dance, is expected to close London Fashion Week on September 20. The event would also mark the first time that Adidas by Stella McCartney will show during an international fashion week.
McCartney first caught the attention of the fashion world in 1995 with a graduate show at Central St Martins that saw her model-friends Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell model her creations on the runway. Two years later, she was appointed creative director of French label Chloe. She has since resigned from the label, and has formed an eponymous joint venture with Gucci. Recipient of the VH1/Vogue Designer of the Year award in 2000, she is an advocate of animal rights, and does not use fur, silk, lambswool or leather in her creations.
