Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin is surely taking not only American politics by storm, but the fashion world as well, as demand for the Kawasaki designer glasses she had been pictured wearing surged.

Created by Japanese designer Kazuo Kawasaki, the Alaska governor's rimless Kawasaki 704 specs, made from titanium, have become such a hot item that the label has been swamped with requests for the same design from women who want to copy her "naughty librarian" look.

And never mind the $375 price tag for the frames alone. American women want it.

"She's wearing a custom shape from one of our catalog shapes, and we have it on file and that's the orders we're getting", said Amy Hahn, vice president of Italee Optics, which distributes the designer specs. "We keep getting calls from dealers who want to stock the exact shape and style that she's wearing. They want the exact model".
