Saks Opens “Shoe Heaven”

Last Friday, the iconic New York City department store Saks Fifth Avenue opened a new shoe floor which carries a hundred thousand pairs of shoes, a figure that definitely dwarfs even that of notorious shoe fetishist, former Philippine First lady Imelda Marcos.

And many women are calling the 8th-floor store “shoe heaven”, with three times more shoes and brands like Jimmy Choo, Christian Dior, Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Valentino, Dolce and Gabbana, Jonathan Kelsey and Burberry. Apart from the dizzying array of shoes, the floor also boasts of an express elevator, a VIP shopping room, expert shoe repair and two cafes.

And, believe it or not, it even has its own zip code. In collaboration with the US Postal Service, the “shoe heaven” was assigned the zip code 10022-SHOE.

This is definitely one store where Sex and the City’s Carrie Bradshaw would feel very much at home.
