Ralph Lauren’s Polo brand is four decades old, and the so-called king of all-American-style marked the event by not only opening two large flagship stores in Moscow last week, but also throwing a Great Gatsby style dinner for 200 guests at the American Ambassador's residence.

Joined by wife Ricky, daughter Dylan, son David, Lady Ella Windsor, Vogue photographer Alexi Lubomirski and more than 120 employees from his offices around the world, Lauren spoiled everyone as he spared no expense for the party. A string quartet played on white marble steps, and guests were treated to a fashion show with ten top international models showcasing the strongest pieces from his spring/summer & autumn/ winter collections.

His daughter Dylan told Vogue:

"My dad has always found this city inspiring and it was an obvious choice for one of our next openings”.

"Although I don't officially work for the brand, he definitely listens to my opinion on styles when we're sitting at home around the table. I think he's been really inspired this trip by the architecture in Red Square, like St. Basil's Cathedral and the Kremlin - it's so colourful and interesting - maybe we'll see some pieces inspired by it in the next collection!"

Should such a collection come up in the future, expect it to be accurate to the smallest detail. The designer is known for his attention to the minutest detail, a trait he demonstrated at the 40th anniversary bash last week as he himself oversaw the replanting of flower beds with enormous tulips and lined up each of the 70 waiters for a neat haircut.
