Gwyneth Paltrow - nymag.com
Gwyneth Paltrow has earned the ire of animal rights activists after appearing in Tod's autumn/winter 2008-9 campaign in which she models fur-lined boots and bags made from ostrich and snakeskin.
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), for one, even went as far as criticized the parenting skills of the actress, who was also shown in the ads draped in fox fur.
"Gwyneth Paltrow won't be the apple of her daughter's eye if she continues to flaunt fur. It's a terrible example to set for a young child, promoting an industry that electrocutes animals, snaps their necks and skins them alive".
Tony Wardle, associate director of the vegetarian charity Viva!, even branded Paltrow "stupid".
"There is nothing feminine about inserting an electrode into the anus of a terrified and struggling fox and then electrocuting it. Ms Paltrow is an actress – and seemingly a particularly stupid one at that."
Some have also suggested that the controversy involving Paltrow could jeopardize her close friendship with designer Stella McCartney, who is an avid animal rights activist.
