Designer Nicole Farhi has been awarded the lifetime achievement prize at this year's First Women Awards, which give tribute to women who become "glass ceiling breakers" in business and public life.
Farhi, who made her mark on the fashion world when she co-founded French Connection in 1972, was handed the award in recognition of her being an "extraordinary entrepreneur" whose "outlook and brand are the antithesis of the throwaway culture", Drapers reports.
Among the judges for this year’s awards, which is in its fourth year, were Baroness Sarah Hogg, chairman of private equity firm 3i and writer and broadcaster Margaret Hefferman.
