Designer Max Azria went home with the Wells Fargo Century Fashion Achievement Award at the Los Angeles Fashion Awards this week.
Azria, who set up his own label BCBG in 1989, was handed the award for his contribution to the LA fashion industry. "We may be a worldwide brand, but this is home," he said onstage at LA's newly-restored Orpheum Theatre.
Other big winners of the evening, which featured five catwalk shows, were Juan Carlos Obando, who received the Moss Adams Fashion Innovator Award and Fred Segal, who won the Fashion Retailer of the Year Award, which was received on his behalf by daughter Sharon.
For his part, LA mayor Antonio Villaraigosa proudly declared, "Los Angeles designers have put LA in the centre of the fashion map. This is where stars come to be born and where trends come to be born."
