British luxury fashion brand Mulberry has a new creative director in the person of Katie Grand, according to Vogue.
Grand, who’s a designer, stylist and editor all in one, will replace outgoing creative director Stuart Vevers, who announced last month that he will be taking over the chief designing position at luxury Spanish leather label Loewe in Madrid. Vevers, incidentally, is a close friend of Grand’s, who’s also friendly with people like Giles Deacon and Luella Bartley.
Admittedly “incredibly excited” about her new job, Grand, whose first full collection for Mulberry will be spring/summer 2009, said: "Over the past year I've already established a relationship with the Mulberry creative team and together we've been moving the brand into a more fashion-oriented direction. Now my appointment as creative director gives us further scope to develop the label's new fashion focus while building on its traditional luxury values."
The founder of Pop magazine, Grand has also styled shows for such names as Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Prada, and Proenza Schouler.
