Karl Lagerfeld to Launch Handbag Range

Legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld has formed a partnership with Accessory Network Group to come up with a collection of handbags, small leather goods and luggage.

A spokesperson for ANG told fashion bible WWD that the upcoming creations by Lagerfeld, who is regarded as one of the most influential fashion designers of the late 20th century, will place an emphasis on luxury materials, hardware and "a high-tech" element.

The collection, which will bear price tags starting from £175 for the contemporary range and £500 for the premium, is expected to be launched for spring/summer 2008, and will be available in retail stores around the world.

Famous for his work with such fashion houses as Chloe, Fendi and Chanel, Lagerfeld also has his own clothing and perfume labels, which he launched sometime in the early 80s. He is also responsible for the elevation of Claudia Schiffer to supermodel status when he chose his fellow German to become the face of Chanel.
