Karl Lagerfeld Teddy Bear - www.wmagazine.com
Karl Lagerfeld has already made an appearance in a video game, and has a lead figurine and plastic toy. But as a teddy bear? Hard to imagine, but not for Steiff, the famous German maker of stuffed animals.
Steiff is producing a limited-edition Karl bear, which naturally bears the signature Lagerfeld look, except that it's, well, a bear. Only 2,500 of these bears were made, and will be launched at Neiman Marcus next month.
But just because he has his own teddy bear doesn't mean he's already into toys. “Nothing scares me more than people with some doll collection. Frightening,” he said. But did he have a favorite teddy bear as a child? “Maybe I had one; I don’t remember. I never played with anything like toys. I wanted to be grown-up.”
In keeping with the Lagerfeld name, these bears do not come cheap. Each will sell at $1,500 a pop, so if you're planning to get your fashionista kids a stylish toy this Christmas, better start saving up now.
