The addition of Knight and Swarovski has further upped the credibility of the five-strong judging panel, which already includes visionary retailer and fashion aficionado Sheikh Majed Al Sabah, Peter Saville and Turner Prize-winning artist Douglas Gordon.

The fifth Fashion Rocks event proved to be a major success Friday, as the star-studded fashion-meets-music extravaganza featured performances from some of the biggest names in pop music today.
Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey, Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown, Rhianna, Duffy and the Pussycat Dolls were just some of the big names who rocked the event, which is in essence a celebration of the relationship between music and fashion, as well as the opening salvo for the ongoing New York Fashion Week.

The British Fashion Council has confirmed that the 2008 British Fashion Awards will take place on November 25 at Lawrence Hall in London's Westminster.

Legendary fashion label Gucci launched last night the festivities for its 70th birthday this year by holding its first formal cruise collection catwalk show in Rome.
The collection showcased last night had a very sexy Seventies feel to it. Composed of trouser suits, silk blouses, floaty dresses and relaxed tailoring, the collection was inspired by Jane Birkin and Talitha Getty, according to creative director Frida Giannini.
After the show, more than 300 guests, including a number of celebrities and big names in fashion, were treated to a sumptuous dinner, as well as an after party at the grounds of Rome's Villa Aurelia where the show was held. British band Goldfrapp was among the performers.

A student of the Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication snagged the top prize at the Graduate Fashion Week Gala Awards last night.
Jessica Au won the River Island Gold Award and the title GFW Designer of the Year, as well as £20,000. On top of that, she also won the Zandra Rhodes Catwalk Textiles Award at the event, which was attended by big fashion names such as Henry Holland, Agyness Deyn, Gareth Pugh and Jens Laugesen.

For the second time in three years, Calvin Klein Collection creative director Francisco Costa has bagged the Womenswear Designer of the Year title from the Council of Fashion Designers of America's 2008 fashion awards.
