Giles Deacon - www.nitrolicious.com
For the first time ever, Giles Deacon is creating a menswear line, and the lucky label to benefit from the designer's initial venture for the boys is high street retailer New Look.
"New Look are delighted to be partners in this venture with Giles, which not only sees the launch of his first menswear collection with us, but also his first menswear collection full stop," says Steve Lawton, New Look's menswear director. "This collection will sit perfectly with the rest of the New Look menswear offer in a category that continues to grow at a pace."
Looks like a new, ethically-friendly alternative to the traditional bearskin hats worn by guards at Buckingham Palace is now in sight.
Animal rights campaigners from PETA have reportedly approached both long-time vegetarian and animal rights activist Stella McCartney and fashion stalwart Vivienne Westwood to design fake fur replacements for the iconic hats, each of which takes one bear to make.
PETA has also met with the Ministry of Defense to discuss ideas for replacing the hats, and the Ministry appears to be open to the idea.

Allegra Hicks - casasugar.com
With sponsors pulling the plug on their support for her catwalk show, Allegra Hicks has been left with no choice but to withdraw from London Fashion Week.
"It is with great regret that our sponsors withdrew from supporting our show in London in September due to the economic circumstances. We decided it was best not to show this season during London Fashion Week, but to present the new spring 09 collection after the shows in a more private environment. We will be showing our spring 09 collection to buyers as usual from London, Paris and New York", a spokesperson for the designer told Drapers.

Entitled "Catwalk Breakdown", the album includes sixteen of Westwood's favorite songs, like "Last Night Was Made for Love," by Billy Fury, and Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers.
Tara Subkoff - fabsugar.com
Form has announced that former Imitation of Christ designer Tara Subkoff has been appointed as artistic director of its spring/summer 2009 show.
This isn't the first time that Subkoff and FORM founder Jerry Tam would be working together, as Tam, who is remembered by many as Project Runway season five's first castoff, used to serve as an intern for Subkoff at Imitation of Christ.
And Subkoff, who called her appointment "karmic and cosmic", is only too happy to help. "It's so great to be able to support one of my first interns at such a crucial time," she said.

Proper Attire Condoms - nymag.com
Other designers branch out to creating hotels and buildings and villas. But Yigal Azrouël, however, chose to do something on a smaller scale but of no lesser importance nonetheless: he has designed stylish condoms--yes, rubbers--for Proper Attire.
To be sold in stores starting Friday, the Proper Attire rubbers were created with Azrouël because they wanted to make stylish protection for women to carry.

Apart from being great designers, Sir Paul Smith, Stella McCartney, Alexander McQueen and Giorgio Armani have one other thing in common: they all have provided artwork that served as inspiration for a new range of tote bags from Whatever It Takes.
Whatever It Takes is an artwork campaign launched by the 21st Century Leaders Foundation charity which aims to raise money for charitable projects worldwide. Part of the proceeds from each bag, the latest in a long line of artworks from celebrities and designers to have inspired a range of covetable products, will benefit the pet charity of the designer of that bag.
Victoria Beckham - www.criticsrant.com
Victoria Beckham has finally talked about her latest collection, which was supposed to debut at the catwalks of New York Fashion Week later this week, but was later pulled out and will just be shown to select fashion buyers and journalists instead.
'I'm just showing it to a collection of magazine journalists and boutique retailers because I want to start off small and see what the reaction is. I really hope people will like it", Beckham says of her new fashion venture; a line of high-end, high-price dresses.

Many consider Tom Ford to be one of the greatest designers today, but apparently, current Yves Saint Laurent creative director Stefano Pilati doesn't share that sentiment.
