For the first time in five years, the prestigious Seventh Avenue Fashion Walk of Fame has added designers to its roster in the persons of fashion icons Diane von Furstenberg and the late Liz Claiborne last Wednesday.
With their induction into the Hall of Fame, Von Furstenberg and Claiborne, represented by her widower, Art Ortenberg, join the likes of Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Halston, Calvin Klein and Oscar De La Renta into the revered list.
"I was terrified of 7th Avenue," Von Furstenberg said. "It's a very great honor to be here today and receive an honor from that very world that was so good to me and that intimidated me so much."
For Claiborne’s part, Ortenberg said, "I know she would be deeply moved and honored to receive this distinguished affirmation of the work she did and the skills she brought to that work".
