Here’s good news for eBay customers who have bought counterfeit products from the online auction site: a French court has ruled that eBay must come up with tougher measures against fake merchandise that find their way into the site and are being sold as genuine articles.
On top of that, the same court also ordered eBay to pay LVMH, the luxury brand that owns Louis Vuitton, 19 million euros in compensation, saying the site had allowed 'grave errors' to take place.
Christian Dior was also awarded more than 17 million euros, while Parfums Christian Dior, Parfums Kenzo, Guerlain and Parfums Givenchy were awarded around 3 million euros.
We can only hope that the ruling would spur eBay to take a tougher stance in order to prevent bogus items from being sold through the site.
