Seven pieces of Yves Saint Laurent’ creations that represent nearly every decade of the recently-departed designer’s career are up for grabs at Christie’s next month.
Among the clothing and jewelry of Saint Laurent’s, who succumbed to brain cancer on June 1 at the age of 71, that are being put on the block include a 1970s Rive Gauche camel cable-knit sweater trimmed in fox fur similar to one Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis wore, a dusty pink layered tulle evening dress with metallic pink and silver embroidery created by the designer for Dior in 1958 and various costume jewelry he created in the 70’s and 90’s.
The items, which are in excellent condition, are relatively inexpensive because they aren't new designs and have been worn, according to Christie's couture specialist Laura Leyfer. Estimates on each items’ going prices just range from $250 to $1,500.
Apart from YSL, other designers whose designs are also being sold at the at the July 2 auction include Gianni Versace, Thierry Mugler, Balenciaga and Christian Lacroix.
