Christie Brinkley Undergoes Back Surgery

Christie Brinkley, one of the very first supermodels, had back surgery on Wednesday, months after hurting her back during a ski trip in Aspen, Colorado last December.

According to her publicist Marcia Horowitz, the supermodel had to go under the knife because her back injury has “worsened in the past few days." She added that her client is already recuperating from the surgery at an undisclosed New York hospital, and will soon be released on Friday.

Brinkley is best known as the face of cosmetics giant Cover Girl for twenty years, which is probably one of the longest endorsement contracts ever by a model. She also boasts of having graced the cover of three consecutive Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issues.

Another Christie Brinkley trivia: In case you didn’t know, Christie Brinkley is the “Uptown Girl” her former husband Billy Joel is referring to in his hit song.
