In a move that has shocked the fashion world, French fashion house Christian Dior has decided to call it quits with creative director Hedi Slimane.

The decision to let Slimane go confirmed reports that the French fashion designer has expressed sentiments that it was time for a major change and leave Dior Homme, of which he has been the chief designer since July 2000.

He told Vogue:” I had already set up the principles that could continue to be there for Dior Homme. As for my own style and aesthetic, I decided it was time to separate the two. “

He added:” It has been said that proposal came to me to start a new house under my name if I stayed at Dior. I tried to make things work for about a year. “

“However, I had the feeling it was not the right project for me.” [Source]

Famous for popularizing the slim silhouette in menswear, Slimane is also known for his snappy Dior Homme designs, which made him a must-wear among fashionistas and top celebrities. He was also named International Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2002.
