For the second time, Graeme Black has quit his post as head women’s wear designer at Salvatore Ferragamo.
Nether Black nor Ferragamo have commented on the issue yet, but word is that Black, a former designer at Giorgio Armani, has already handed in his notice, reportedly to focus all his energies on his signature line with business partner Jonathan Reed. Last April, Black promoted his line with Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus via a tour of five U.S. cities.
His last collection for Ferragamo will be for spring/summer 2008, and will be showcased during Milan Fashion Week next month.
The 40-year-old Black was hired by the Florentine luxury goods house in 2001, as chief womenswear designer, but left the company in 2004, the year it named a new creative director in the person of Nathalie Gervais. He eventually returned as a consultant in 2005, working alongside Gervais.
