Giorgio Armani is venturing into consumer electronics, this time joining forces with South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co. in creating, among others, an LCD television and a mobile phone.

At a news conference Monday morning, the Italian designer unveiled a cell phone the size of a credit card and bearing his name. The multifunction phone, which will be pretty slim at 10.5 millimeters thick, will be on sale in Europe in November.

In a statement to announce the partnership, Armani said, “We make as much of a personal statement with the mobile phones that we carry or the televisions we have in our living rooms as we do with the shoes and bags we wear or the furnishings we choose to place in our homes''.

Armani, of course, wouldn’t be the only fashion brand to venture into designer cell phones. Early this year, Prada has developed a phone with South Korea's LG Electronics. Dolce & Gabbana, meanwhile, has struck a deal with Motorola for a gold-colored version of the RAZR mobile phone model.
