Angela Spindler Quits Asda

The executive responsible for tapping Coleen Mary McLoughlin, fiancée of football star Wayne Rooney as the face of George fashion has quit her post.

Angela Spindler, who was the executive director of Asda and global managing director of George as well, has handed in her resignation last week, effective immediately.

Asda attributes Spindler’s departure to “family reasons”. Her resignation comes at a time when the company is falling behind rival discount clothing firms in terms of growth.

The duties left behind by Spindler, who has just recently announced plans to start selling Asda clothes over the Internet next year, were taken over by Asda chief executive Andy Bond, who in turn will be assisted by chief operating officer Mark Daynes and brand director Fiona Lambert.
