Three weeks before designers start to showcase their fall collection for New York Fashion Week (starting Feb 2) the American fashion industry issued guidelines for healthy models. The Council of Fashion Designers of America has created a list of regulations for the initiative.
-- Keep models under 16 off the runway and don't allow models under 18 to work at fittings or photo shoots past midnight.
-- Educate those in the industry to identify the early warning signs of eating disorders.
-- Require models identified as having an eating disorder to receive professional help and only allow those models to continue with approval from that professional.
-- Develop workshops on the causes and effects of eating disorders, and raise awareness of the effects of smoking and tobacco-related disease.
-- During fashion shows, provide healthy meals and snacks, while prohibiting smoking and alcohol.

"No matter where he decides to go work, we own him," Peter said angrily.
Janice, on the other hand, was upset but explained to him that the door was right behind him, although she was unhappy with his decision.

Italy's new license to model has sparked controversy around the globe. Here's what some officials have to say:
ANNA MOLINARI "Given the fact that the runways have become a model of beauty and elegance for young adolescents who are still looking for their identity...the fashion world should take responsibility for its role, dismissing those 'excesses' that can become dangerous for the youngest. I firmly believe we should recover the concept of beauty and balance, harmony, proportions and health, elegance and seduction that don't necessarily match with sizes."
BEPPE MODENESE (Fashion insider) "The weight problem has always existed and it's right to talk about it, but in the end, it's an issue for the modeling agencies."
