British fashion designers Alexander McQueen and John Galliano may have made it to The Independent’s fashion power list, but as far as Spanish fashion designer Paco Rabanne is concerned, they’re “fashion hooligans”.
With Balmain, Balenciaga, Givenchy and others, you can once again see that vein of chic and elegance which had deserted the capital with the arrival of those fashion hooligans, Galliano and McQueen," he told an Intercontinental hotel magazine, referring to recent collections at those fashion houses.

Petra Nemcova - pnemcova.kmmod.com
Of all the new supermodels, Petra Nemcova is considered one of the most gorgeous. She also happens to be one of the toughest. One only needs to look at what she had to do in 2004 when she and then-fiancé, British photographer Simon Atlee, were vacationing in Phuket, Thailand, one of the places hit hard by the Indian Ocean tsunami.
The way she survived is a testament to the stunning supermodel’s courage and toughness: For eight hours, she clung to a palm tree, broken pelvis, serious internal injuries and all. And she did survive. Unfortunately, her fiancé did not.
With New York Fashion Week ending today and London Fashion Week set to launch on Sunday, British newspaper The Independent has seen fit to come up with a list of the top 50 people in UK fashion for 2007. And, without much surprise, a lot of familiar names of designers, models, stylists and photographers made it to the list, making them the “Fabulous Fifty” who are expected to make waves in the fashion world this year.

London may soon follow the lead of Madrid and Milan.
With the London Fashion Week set to begin Sunday, a British government official has hinted that fashion shows in Britain may be banned from using size zero models.
Tessa Jowell, the Culture Secretary, said she welcomed moves by the organisers of London Fashion Week to hire only "healthy" models aged older than 16.
However, when pressed on whether she would use her powers to compel them never to employ dangerously thin girls, she said: "We may get to that."
Michelle Rodriguez - www.metro.co.uk
Actress Michelle Rodriguez was seen hitting New York Fashion Week in a Marc Jacobs dress. While the pearl dress she wore was glamorous, what really caught the attention of people was the fact that she wore a weird-looking bracelet on her left ankle the whole time.
Kate Moss - www.nndb.com
Have you ever imagined how supermodels like Kate Moss would look like without the expertise of the make-up artists and stylists that make them look real good? Now here’s your chance to see pictures of Kate Moss without makeup.
Fashion photographer Corrine Day took pictures of the supermodel wearing no makeup, just various facial expressions, which range from thoughtful and melancholic to angry.
These black and white pictures of the face of cosmetics firm Rimmel are set to go on show at London’s National Portrait Gallery. In the upcoming Face of Fashion exhibition, Kate Moss’s pics will be displayed with similar portraits of Hollywood figures such as Justin Timberlake, Brad Pitt, Sharon Stone, Madonna and Angelina Jolie.
Women Choose New Wardrobe - www.namidupage.org
Women in today’s world may be a lot more sexually aware and active than those of a decade ago, but when it comes down to a choice between an entirely new wardrobe and sex, women would rather get clothes than sex.
That is the not so-shocking revelation of a new poll conducted by Unilever on approximately a thousand women in 10 cities in the US. Here are some of the survey’s findings:
Everything’s gone high-tech nowadays. Cell phones are no longer just cell phones, TVs are no longer just TVs. And judging from what was featured at Paris’s annual lingerie trade fair on Sunday, high technology has invaded underwear as well.
Categorized as cosmeto-textiles, these underwear contain various substances such as nutrients derived from seaweed, aloe vera moisturizers, perfumes, creams and slimming agents. Theoretically, these underwear help men feel cool and fresh, help keep the skin moist, and help women slim down.
But cosmeto-textiles are not limited to just underwear. French firm Onixxa, for example, counts among its 30 cosmeto-textile garments such items as slimming tights and slimming jeans. Then there’s Invista, a Canadian textiles company that manufactures, aside from men and women’s underwear, socks and tights made with cosmeto-textiles.
