Supermodel Liya Kebede has created a clothing line primarily geared towards children.
Called Lemlem, the range will cater to children aged three months to 10 years old. Combining some traditional weaving and embroidery techniques with modern silhouettes, all the pieces of the collection are handmade in Ethiopia, Kebede’s native country.
Lemlem, which means “to bloom” in Amharic, a Semitic language from Ethiopia, is expected to launch in early 2008 in limited distribution.

Stella McCartney is now making her first foray into the world of lingerie, as the designer is now busy putting her stamp on a range of underwear, much to delight of lingerie lovers everywhere.
Calling her venture into lingerie “a natural progression” for her, McCartney also told fashion bible WWD, "Lingerie is an obsession of mine. I have been inspired by it for many, many years. Ever since my degree collection at Saint Martins, I have always used it in my work."

Donatella Versace has reportedly signed on to design clothes for the Spice Girls for their reunion tour which will kick off in December.
Instead of the baby doll dresses, ill-fitting tracksuits and the leopard skin prints that are the signature of the band at the height of its popularity, Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm will all be wearing glamorous and sexy stage outfits worth over £200,000.

Wilmer Valderrama is the latest Hollywood celebrity to try his hand at fashion designing with the launch of his own clothing line.
Called Calavena, his casual wear collection, which includes jeans, T-shirts and sweaters, is now available at Saks Fifth Avenue stores across the United States.
Developing the line, which are priced from $80 for a T-shirt to $160 for a sweater, took him 2 ½ years, and he had help from designer Josh Horkey, who he says is “the guy who draws it".

In hopes of boosting falling sales, fashion chain Monsoon has tapped supermodel Helena Christensen to be its new face.
Christensen, who will be replacing Elizabeth Hurley, will front Monsoon’s new Autumn/ Winter collections which are scheduled for launch in September. On top of this, Christensen, who also runs hip New York boutique Butik, has also designed a new 'green' range for the British high street retailer.

The nominations and special honors for the third annual Los Angeles Fashion Awards were announced at The Standard Hotel in West Hollywood Wednesday night.
The frontrunners for the Moss Adams Fashion Innovator Award nominees include Juan Carlos Obando, Jasmin Shokrian, Rami Kashou, and Thomas Wylde designer Paula Thomas. For the Marketing Excellence Award, the nominees include L.A. Eyeworks, Guess by Marciano, Kitson and BCBG Max Azria. The Fashion Retailer of the Year, meanwhile, is a toss-up between The Way We Wore, American Rag Cie, Lisa Kline and Fred Segal.
As for the special honors, Max Azria of the BCBG Max Azria Group has been named the recipient of The Wells Fargo Century Fashion Achievement Award, while the Fashion Communication Award Winner is DailyCandy LA. Bravo’s hit reality TV show, Project Runway, also gets the Inspiration Award.

According to a Daily Star source, “All of Kate’s friends have been rallying around her and she is thinking about house-hunting in Los Angeles – away from the constant fuss that follows her and Pete.”
These friends, which include fellow supermodel and singer Beth Ditto, have reportedly told Moss that she can keep a much lower profile in Los Angeles, and are said to have offered to help her find a house in the Californian city.

With controversial photographer Terry Richardson shooting the ad campaign by Roberto Cavalli for H&M, there’s a very distinct possibility that the ads could contain a certain amount of nudity.
Richardson, who is notorious not only for getting his models to take off their clothes, but also strips himself, will be shooting the Cavalli campaign in Florence, Italy. And it is expected that his subjects, which will include Lydia Hearst, Jessica Stam, Theodora Richards, Erin Wasson, siblings Devon and Steve Aoki, and—gasp!—Cavalli himself, will be portrayed in various states of undress.

Dolce & Gabbana has signed on to create the wardrobe for China’s Olympic football team.
Beginning with the summer 2007 European exhibition tour and culminating in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, the Chinese football team will be wearing off-field ensembles created by the designing duo. The ensemble will include “Martini” line tailored suits made up of black light-wool pants and jackets; slim-fit white cotton shirts with black silk ties; and a series of more casual looks, including silver nylon bomber jackets, satin hooded sweaters, and t-shirts and jeans.

It has been confirmed that Mulberry design director Stuart Vevers is on his way out and will be assuming the position of creative director at Loewe beginning January.
Vevers, whose handbag designs have captured the hearts of women all over, will replace Jose Enrique Ona Selfa at Loewe, and will be based full-time in Madrid once he assumes his duties.
"Stuart fits the profile perfectly of what we wanted. We have been making operational changes at the brand recently. Now we want to emphasize Loewe's strong point - leather goods - with someone who can make desirable handbags.", said Pierre-Yves Roussel, chief executive officer of the fashion division at LVMH – owner of Loewe.
