Oscar del Renta has confirmed that he won’t be showcasing his new collection in the New York Fashion Week tents.
Instead of the usual Bryant Park Tents, the designer has chosen another venue, an old Christian Science church at 583 Park Avenue at the corner of 63rd Street, in which to launch his spring 2008 collection.
A spokeswoman for the designer said the new venue “does accommodate a little less than the tents”, but dela Renta has been really pleased with the new venue when he recent staged his resort show there, leading him to decide to stage his spring show there as well.

Australian singer-songwriter, model and fashion designer Dannii Minogue is now the face—and body—for Next's new 'Boutique' lingerie collection.
Minogue, who’s a judge on the fourth series of ITV's The X Factor, is exclusively modeling the high-street retailer’s latest range of underwear. The collection, which became available in selected stores yesterday, is said to embody everything about Danii, "beautifully sexy, gracefully girlie and exquisitely chic will also include knickers and bras with luxury laces, mini ruffles and ribbons".

Pop icon Madonna and her director-husband Guy Ritchie have recently been voted the best-dressed celebrity couple in a survey conducted by In Style magazine.
Madonna and Guy beat out David and Victoria Beckham, who came in third, as well as Hollywood royal couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who landed second place in a survey that had 7,000 fashion fans as respondents.
Rounding out the top five are pop princess Gwen Stefani and rocker Gavin Rossdale and hot Hollywood couple Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, who came in fourth and fifth, respectively.

Academy Award-winning actress Reese Withewspoon has been appointed the first ever Avon Global Ambassador at a ceremony in Los Angeles.
As Global Ambassador for the giant direct-sale cosmetics company, Witherspoon, who was sworn in at a press conference at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel on Wednesday, will act as the Honorary Chairman of the Avon Foundation, which focuses on such issues as domestic violence and breast cancer.
On top of this, the Legally Blonde star will also be featured in ad campaigns, web sites and brochures, as well as get involved in product development initiatives for the cosmetics giant.
High street retailer H&M is finally opening a store on Paris' exclusive Champs-Elysees, overcoming efforts by a Paris commission to block that same thing from happening last year.
"We are very happy that we've finally received a trade license to open," a H&M spokeswoman told fashion bible WWD. "It's a positive development."
Despite the label's ties to such famous designers as Roberto Cavalli, Stella McCartney and Karl Lagerfield, H&M still had the door slammed on its face last year by the Paris commission, which claimed an H&M store there would "banalise" the legendary Parisian street, where the likes of Louis Vuitton and Cartier hold court.
House of Holland’s Henry Holland, the masked designer Noki and Scottish born designer Louise Gray have been chosen by Fashion East to be the recipients of its monetary and catwalk support for London Fashion Week this coming September.
Sponsored by TopShop for the last eight seasons, Fashion East was established by Lulu Kennedy in 2000 with support from The Truman Brewery, with an eye on assisting upcoming designers and helping launch their careers. Danielle Scutt, Richard Nichol, Louise Goldin and Marios Schwab are amongst its alumni.
House of Holland’s Henry Holland, who’s on the Fashion East catwalk list for the second time around, is planning on showcasing a full collection of rock inspired fashion in September. The anonymous Noki, meanwhile, is best known for the crazy masks he wears. Last but not least, Gray, who’s fresh out of Saint Martins, has worked for Lanvin and Peter Jensen.
