For the second time, Graeme Black has quit his post as head women’s wear designer at Salvatore Ferragamo.
Nether Black nor Ferragamo have commented on the issue yet, but word is that Black, a former designer at Giorgio Armani, has already handed in his notice, reportedly to focus all his energies on his signature line with business partner Jonathan Reed. Last April, Black promoted his line with Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus via a tour of five U.S. cities.
His last collection for Ferragamo will be for spring/summer 2008, and will be showcased during Milan Fashion Week next month.

The racy lingerie show is going to hit TV screens on December 4 over CBS. Angela Spindler, who was the executive director of Asda and global managing director of George as well, has handed in her resignation last week, effective immediately.
Asda attributes Spindler’s departure to “family reasons”. Her resignation comes at a time when the company is falling behind rival discount clothing firms in terms of growth.

Pretty soon, a bill pushing for the protection of fashion creations from being ripped off could become a law.
The bill, called the Design Piracy Prohibition Act, was introduced in the U.S. Senate on August 2. The bill aims to allow designers to file lawsuits against anyone who produces cheap imitations of their designs, and appeal for the destruction of such fashion rip-offs as well.
Sen. Charles Schumer, one of the bill’s sponsors, said: "Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but it's bad for our fashion industry here in New York. It's every bit as much intellectual property as writing a good book or making a good movie. And yet the law says, come rip it off."

The redheaded British supermodel gave birth on Tuesday to Henry Lee White in Tennessee. The couple has a 15-month-old daughter named Scarlett.
