Pepsi Forays Into Fashion

Beverage giant Pepsi will soon be launching its own fashion line.

And just as it had relied heavily on high-profile celebrities for its soft drink advertising campaigns, Pepsi’s fashion line also will also be counting on celebrity endorsements.

According to Joanne Loria, executive vice president of the Joester Loria Group, Pepsi's licensing agency, "This is not a line that will be advertised in style magazines, but could be photographed on a star and featured in that magazine".

Among the lessons that Greenwell intends to impart in this will be the history and evolution of make-up and working with different skin textures,  Of course, detailed lessons on how to apply make-up to the eyes, lips and cheeks are in the course as well.

Saks To Honor Iconic Princess Grace Fashion

Film icon Grace Kelly and her sense of style will be honored by Saks Fifth Avenue through a showcase of the late Princess’ most iconic looks in a display at the famous New York department store this week.

London Fashion Thieves Hit Anya Hindmarch Store

British designer Anya Hindmarch has become the latest victim in a string of raids on top fashion labels in London.  Four people on mopeds broke into her store on Ledbury Road early today and carted away handbags worth approximately £20,000. Among the handbags stolen were the Lautner and the Ebur, two of this season’s favorites.

Just recently, Marc Jacobs, Luella and FrostFrench stores were also burgled, losing precious fashion items to a gang of thieves which seem to have a really sharp eye for fashion. These thieves sure know their fashion.

BFC 2007 Nominees Announced

The British Fashion Council has announced the nominees for the 2007 British Fashion Awards.

Leading the pack is Luella Bartley, who is up for Designer of the Year. Also in the running for the award are Stella Mccartney and Anya Hindmarch.

The New Designer of the Year award, meanwhile, will be hotly contested Christopher Kane, Gareth Pugh and Marios Scwarb. Battling it out for Model of the Year are Agyness Deyn, Lily Cole and Irina. Giles Deacon, who won Designer of the Year honors in 2006, will be going head-to-head with Marchesa and Stella for Red Carpet Designer of the Year.

Prada hires former Burberry and Gucci executive

Prada has a new chief operating officer in the person of former Burberry president Brian Blake.

In a statement, Patrizio Bertelli, CEO of the Italian fashion house, expressed confidence in Blake, saying "I believe that Brian's contribution will allow us to ... exploit all the opportunities to continue to grow our businesses".

No stranger to the fashion business, the 51-year-old Blake worked as president and chief operating officer of the British label from 2004 to 2005, when he quit for family reasons. Before working at Burberry, he has also had a stint with the Gucci Group.
