Barack and Michelle Obama - www.vogue.co.uk
After much speculation about what Michelle Obama will be wearing at the Democratic National Convention last week, we finally have a winner, and it's none other than Thai designer Thakoon Panchigul.
Unlike other political women who are often seen wearing Oscar de la Renta or Carolina Herrera creations, Michelle chose to wear a printed Thakoon dress adorned with three Erickson Beamon broaches as her husband Barack, the Democrats' bet for the U.S. Presidency, delivered his nomination acceptance speech. And the designer couldn't be more elated by it.

The six-piece collection, which will surely make fans of head designer Henry Holland happy, is essentially inspired by Beverly Hills 90210, with each piece a combination of the irreverent rebelliousness of House of Holland and Levi's free-spirited attitude. Pieces will feature print and laser-cut jeans style, making use of floral and polka dot designs.
Siren - www.dailymail.co.uk
Designers and companies know Kate Moss is pure gold when it comes to working for them. But to British sculptor Marc Quinn, the English supermodel is solid gold, at least in his latest creation.
Quinn, the same man behind the painted bronze statue of Moss in a somewhat provocative yoga pose called Sphinx, has given the world a first glimpse at the face of Siren, a nearly $2.8 million, 110-pound solid gold statue of Moss in, yet again, a contorted yoga pose. And he is slated to unveil his latest creation, hyped as the biggest statue of its kind since ancient Egypt, at the British Museum in October.

Jerry Ford - www.huffingtonpost.com
Jerry Ford, the man who founded one of the top modeling agencies in the world, has died from complications from endocarditis, or inflammation of the heart. He was 83.
As far as modeling agencies go, it was Ford who established many of the systems that are in place in most modeling agencies today. Aside from introducing a system for collecting fees for models and agents, he was also the first to draw up contracts for models to exclusively represent certain brands and therefore earn much higher fees, like the one Lauren Hutton signed in 1974 to be the face of Revlon.
