Flame-haired supermodel Karen Elson has just been signed by John Lewis to become the face of its autumn advertising campaign.
The campaign that Elson will star in is the biggest-ever to be undertaken by the store, with a budget of £1.5 million.

Christy Turlington - www.marieclaire.co.uk
Christy Turlington, one of the most successful supermodels of all time, is going back to school.
According to the New York Daily News, the former catwalk queen is planning to study maternal and child health at Columbia University in New York.
"I have explored several career paths and have discovered that in addition to being a mother, a career in service is most fitting", says the supermodel, who has two children with actor husband Ed Burns.
Daria Werbowy - www.virginmedia.com
Daria Werbowy may not be heating up the New York catwalks this week, no thanks to an injury suffered when an engine accidentally dropped on her left foot several weeks ago, but she is still a star nonetheless, especially now that she has her own star on Canada's Walk of Fame.
The Polish-born Ukranian supermodel was inducted into the stellar club last Saturday in Toronto. She follows in the footsteps of fellow Canadian catwalker Linda Evangelista, who has a star there herself.

Tyra Banks - www.fashionista.com
Forbes.com has compiled a list of the top-earning women of US primetime TV, and coming out on top is former supermodel and now reality TV host/producer Tyra Banks.
Tyra, who created The Tyra Banks Show, as well as produces and judges America's Next Top Model, reportedly earned $23 million between June 2007 and June 2008.
And her earnings could only get bigger with her signing a lucrative deal with Warner Bros for a new reality show set around a magazine called Stylista.
A supermodel also landed second on the list, as Heidi Klum, host of Project Runway and Germany's Next Top Model, raked in $14 million.

Gisele Bundchen - www.welovesunglasses.com
Many would argue that Gisele Bundchen is one of only a handful of models today who deserve being called a "supermodel". The Brazilian supermodel, however, doesn't really like being called one.
In this month's Spanish Vogue, which has her on the cover, Gisele thinks the "super" tag just isn't right for her or any other model for that matter.
"The word 'super' is for heroes and those who do extraordinary things", she says.
Beyonce - www.eonline.com
The fifth Fashion Rocks event proved to be a major success Friday, as the star-studded fashion-meets-music extravaganza featured performances from some of the biggest names in pop music today.
Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey, Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown, Rhianna, Duffy and the Pussycat Dolls were just some of the big names who rocked the event, which is in essence a celebration of the relationship between music and fashion, as well as the opening salvo for the ongoing New York Fashion Week.
Looks like a new, ethically-friendly alternative to the traditional bearskin hats worn by guards at Buckingham Palace is now in sight.
Animal rights campaigners from PETA have reportedly approached both long-time vegetarian and animal rights activist Stella McCartney and fashion stalwart Vivienne Westwood to design fake fur replacements for the iconic hats, each of which takes one bear to make.
PETA has also met with the Ministry of Defense to discuss ideas for replacing the hats, and the Ministry appears to be open to the idea.

Allegra Hicks - casasugar.com
With sponsors pulling the plug on their support for her catwalk show, Allegra Hicks has been left with no choice but to withdraw from London Fashion Week.
"It is with great regret that our sponsors withdrew from supporting our show in London in September due to the economic circumstances. We decided it was best not to show this season during London Fashion Week, but to present the new spring 09 collection after the shows in a more private environment. We will be showing our spring 09 collection to buyers as usual from London, Paris and New York", a spokesperson for the designer told Drapers.
Catwalk Breakdown - www.vogue.co.uk
For the past few months, a seemingly endless stream of actors and musicians have ventured into fashion design, for better or worse. Now it's time to have it the other way around, with Vivienne Westwood infiltrating the music industry with the release of a compilation album this month.
Entitled "Catwalk Breakdown", the album includes sixteen of Westwood's favorite songs, like "Last Night Was Made for Love," by Billy Fury, and Tchaikovsky's Waltz of the Flowers.
