Lauren Conrad - unleashingideas.org
Top US retailer Kitson has taken Lauren Conrad's fashion label off its shelves.
Conrad, who became known for her appearance in the MTV reality show The Hills, has only launched her label in February, and Kitson’s decision to drop her fashion line from its catalog doesn’t bode well for the future of her range.
Part of the reason, store owner Fraser Ross says, for the fashion label’s failure are lackluster sales brought about by the celebrity’s lazy attitude towards promotion.

Yves Saint-Laurent - news.bbc.co.uk
The extensive art collection of the late designer Yves Saint Laurent is going under the hammer at Christie’s in Paris in what is being regarded as one of the largest private-owner auctions to be ever held.
Works by such greats as Picasso, Matisse, Goya, Warhol and other pieces from various artists will be up for grabs next year when Pierre Bergé & Associates, the auction house of the departed designer’s partner, begins auctioning off the collection estimated to be worth a breathtaking $600 million.
A new award is to be given out by the Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation as it enters its eighth season: The Sustainable Design Award.
The new award, which will join the women's wear, menswear, and accessories categories, aims to recognize designers whose creations are made using eco-friendly materials, as well as make use of production methods that promote fair trade or social equity for workers.
"Fashion is a very real reflection of the times we live in, and Ecco Domani is the first to create an award for those emerging designers who are not only thinking about fashion design, but also how the whole process affects the planet", said Julie Gilhart, EDFF judge and VP of fashion merchandising at Barneys New York.

Calvin Klein Underwear has a new man in the person of model Garrett Neff.

With this gig, Neff joins the ranks of international soccer star Freddie Ljungberg, actor Mark Wahlberg, and most recently Oscar-nominated actor Djimon Hounsou, all of whom have modeled for the brand in the past.

Marilyn Monroe - www.cinemaretro.com
Looks like the trend of celebrities launching their own fashion lines extends even to celebs who have long been dead and gone.
In what could only be a clear-cut case of cashing in on the name of a celebrated icon, an entire collection using the name of the late screen goddess Marilyn Monroe will be launched next year.
According to WWD, Bradford Licensing Associates in America, which owns the rights to 400 archive photos of Monroe, in collaboration with U.K. based manufacturer Blues Clothing, will create a Marilyn Monroe-inspired clothing line that is said to be aimed at young adults.
Claudia Schiffer - www.music-juice.com
Claudia Schiffer may be two years shy of forty, but that doesn’t mean the German supermodel couldn’t give models nearly half her age a run for their money when it comes to looks. She’s turning 38 next month and she looks like one of those women who get better with age, as she’s still drop-dead gorgeous.
And Dolce & Gabbana know that all too well, as they have decided to sign up Schiffer to be the new face of the label’s resort collection.
The campaign, which we could only hope would include swimsuit or bikini shots, is expected to debut in major fashion books this December.
